Tour Bandits Teams National Champions!
The 14 Minors, 16 Majors and 18 Minors all won their respective divisions at USARS National Championships.

Five Bandits team traveled to Philadelphia, PA this past weekend to compete in the USA Roller Sports National Championships.  Three of those teams would return home with gold medals and the title of National Champions while the other two Bandits team would finish with silver and bronze medals.  This was a great weekend for the Bandits program sending five teams to nationals and having all five returning home with medals.  The toughest task of all was in the U16 division as the Bandits faced some very tough opponents along the way in the Junior Gladiators and the Tour Jaguars. In the 14U division both Bandits would make through their divisions as number one seeds and would eventually play each other in the division final.  The Minors would hand the 93’s team their first and only lose of the tournament in the championship game.   The 18U team finished as the number two seed going into the playoffs Sunday afternoon.  They would quickly dispose of the Philadelphia Revolution 7-2 before defeating the Long Island Piranhas 5-3 in the final.  The U21 team would finish third after disappointing losses at the hands of Team Zero and the DC Bullets.  The 21U team would defeat the Long Island Piranhas and the Philadelphia Selects to grab the bronze medal.  In the skills competition Jake Gaddis would take home the goalie shoot out award in the 14’s and he also finished second in the 16U’s competition.  AJ Rosales of the Bandits 93’s won the breakaway competition in the 14U’s skills competition.  This was a great weekend for the Bandits program and hats off the coaching staff and players on a job well done!

Pee Wee Major and Bantams win Gold

at Cincinnati NARCH Regional

Sunday April 15th proved to be a productive and rewarding day for the Tour Bandits as they brought home two Gold Medals at this years Cincinnati NARCH Regional held at Skatetown USA.   The Pee Wee Major concluded round robin play on Saturday at  2-1 after losing to the 92 Tour Bordercats (Mich) 7-3 and posting wins against the Indiana Kodiaks 8-0 and 7-0  against the Cincinnati Stealth. This placed the Pee Wee's as the 3rd seed for Sunday where they faced the hometown 92 Skate Town Swords in the Semi-Finals.  A slow start by both teams finally resulted in the Tour Bandits going up 2-0.  The Swords answered with a goal to pull within 1 until the bandits again found the net to go up 3-1.  The swords would score 1 more goal but could not find the net again sending the Tour Bandits to the championship game. Tour Bandits goalie Jake Gaddis was stellar in net for this one as he turned back several Swords scoring chances throughout the game.

The win set up a re-match with the 92 Tour Bordercats, who had recently won the first Detroit NARCH Regional of the year.  The Tour Bordercats, who had just come off an exhausting bantam semi-game, would need to reach for everything they could as they played in two divisions and with a short bench.  The game went back and forth as both teams battled for the right to claim the gold.  Until late, this game was up for grabs, but the Tour Bandits who had worked hard as a team throughout the weekend were able to go up by 2 goals late to secure the Championship 7-5.

The Tour Bantams concluded round robin play on Saturday at 0-1-1 with a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Revision and a 4-4 tie against the    Hyper Mule Cats out of Cincinnati.
This placed the Bantams up against the Skatetown Swords for the right to go to the semi's. It was clear that this was to be the start of a great day for the Tour Bandits as they played solid in both ends and defeated the Swords 4-0. This set up the semi against the 92 Bordercats who had not lost a game in either the Pee Wee or Bantam Division all weekend.  The Bandits jumped on the Tour Bordercats quickly by scoring three goals, but like all great teams, the Bordercats came back to even the game.  Tour Bandits goalie Tyler Fraer was outstanding in this one to keep the game close as he made several phenomenal glove saves in tight to keep the Cats from going ahead.  Down 4-3 with little time left, the Cats would even the score on a rebound in tight.  This one looked to be going into OT until the Tour Bandits were able to snipe one from the slot to go up 5-4.  The Cats would pull their goalie, but the defense was able to hold them out to secure a spot in the Championship game.  This game was one people should remember for a long time.

The Tour Bandits would then face off against the #1 Seed Mission Snake Eyes in the Championship.  The Snake Eyes were the 2006 NARCH Nationals Gold Champions and look strong again this year as they came back to defeat the Hyper Mule Cats 5-4 for their spot in the championship.  The Snake Eyes wasted little time as they scored on their first trip down the rink.  The Tour Bandits would come back an even things up and this game would again be a back and forth contest.  The Tour Bandits would score late to make it 6-5 and then added an empty netter to secure the win 7-5 to make this a perfect ending to the day.

Bandits Goaltending Key to Success

The goaltending duo of  Kevin Hammerschlag and Brett Leggat has been the one of the key ingredients to the Bandits early success so far this season. Leggat would finish the weekend with three wins including a shutout allowing only two goals in three games. Brett's stellar performances against the Lunatics helped to give the Bandits an early four game lead in the Mason-Dixon Division standings. Kevin Hammerschlag has been the man for the Bandits so far this season picking up his eighth win of the season in the pro division while racking up another five wins in the minor division. Kevin would only allowed two goals on 23 shots in Friday nights victory over the York Typhoon and then would just give up one goal in his next two starts. The Bandits have yet another young but talented goaltender in the wings in Steven Baker, so far this season Baker has only one loss in eight starts, an overtime loss to the Broomall Gladiators. The Bandits hope to have Mitchell Hardin back in the line up come Feb 14 when he is expected to return after being off due to surgery.
