Tour
Bandits
inline
hockey
organization
has
announced
their
tryout
dates
for the
upcoming
2010
tournament
season.
Open
tryouts
will be
held at
Harmarville
Blade
Runners
on
Monday
December
28,
2009,
beginning
at 6:00
pm for
8U & 10U
and 7:30
pm for
12U &
14U
players.
The
16U/18U/21U
tryouts
will be
held on
Tuesday
December
29th
from
9:00 –
10:30
pm.
Players
are
asked to
arrive
early to
expedite
the
registration
process,
ensuring
that the
players
can take
the
floor on
time.
Cost for
the
tryout
will be
$10 per
player,
with a
portion
of the
proceeds
to be
invested
back
into the
teams to
help
defray
some of
the
costs
associated
with
running
the
operations.
Players
of all
skill
levels
are
urged to
attend
and will
be
placed
on a
team
that
will pit
them
against
similarly
skilled
players
from
other
organizations
around
the
country.
The
Pittsburgh
Bandits
are
slated
to play
in
tournaments
throughout
the
region
this
year,
with the
possibility
of the
teams
travelling
to
national
events.
Pittsburgh
Bandits
youth
teams
will be
coached
by
members
of the
Pittsburgh
Bandits
AIHL
Professional
team. To

exposed
to some
of the
best
coaching
Western
PA area
has to
offer.

Success

defending
champs
With an 8 - 0 record after 8 games, the defending AIHL Cup champion Pittsburgh Bandits are pleased with the start to their season, but admit there’s still plenty of work to be done.
“We’re happy with our progress,” said Bandits Coach Jon Roux, whose team picked up four more points in a two-game set against the Winchester Generals last weekend. “There are a lot of aspects of our game we can improve on, but we’ve found a way to win and that’s the most important thing.”
Credit Justin Cormack for much of the team’s early success. The first-year forward from Pittsburgh, PA., leads the Bandits in scoring with eleven goals and 8 assist for 19 points. “Justin has been great for us,” Roux said of the 21-year-old. “He’s a leader, on and off the rink. He plays in all situations for us and has a great knack for scoring a big goal or blocking a shot when we need it. Justin is followed up by teammate Dustin Roux with 6 goals and 8 assist in 5 games. Other Bandit forwards including Sean Masem, JD Almonte and Taylor Witt. Sam Nixdorf has also seen a lot of game time at the major level and has played very well.
Defensively the Bandits have been rock solid protecting their goalies by blocking shots and taking away scoring opportunities with great positional play. Defensively the Bandits are lead by veterans DaveThomas, Chris Weiss, Nick Posa, TC Javor, Jason Rouxand Brock Wilson. Dan Leibharthas also see a lot of time on defense for the major team and has impressed the coaching staff with his outstanding play.
The Bandits also got a big boost in goal when they picked up Dustin Brown, who minded net for the Southside Snipers the previous three seasons. The St. Louis, Mo., native has 4 wins to his credit this year to go along with a 0.533 goals-against average and a 0.939 save percentage.
The Bandits also return veteran net minder Steve Baker who also boosts some great numbers as well. Baker with 4 wins also on the season has 0.933 goals-against average and a 0.879 save percentage on the season. He’s a veteran in the league with championship-game experience. Adding a 21-year-old with his type of experience is invaluable to our club.”
The Bandits will get perhaps their biggest test of the season this coming weekend when they visit the Richmond Robins on Saturday and the Maryland Knights on Sunday. “It’s always tough when we visit these two teams and this year is no different,” said Roux. “We have to be prepared to play our best every game. You can’t afford to make mistakes because both of these teams will capitalize on every one of them.”

game that
came down
the finals

pulled off
the victory
and a earned
a spot in
the finals

Jaguars. The
finals was a
great game
and was a
tribute the
goaltenders
who were
absolutely
incredible
the whole
game. With
the Bandits
down by one
goal with
just seconds
left to play
the Bandits

goalie Tyler
Fraer and
went all out
try to tie
the game
with an
extra
attacker,
but only
after a few
opportunities
the Jaguars
put in an
empty netter
to seal the
victory.

It was a

between two
Tour Teams
for the
finals of
the USARS
Men's Gold
Division
championship
in
Philadelphia,
PA. The Tour
Bandits fell
behind early
on before
coming on
strong and
defeating
the Tour
Mudcats (PA)
by a score
of 10-4.
The Tour
Bandits also
defeated
Anaheim
Ducks (CA)
in the first
round of the
playoffs to
advance to
the final.
In round
robin play
the Bandits
downed the
Canpro Team
(Columbia),
Mission
Snipers (NY)
and Mile
High Mayhem
(CO).
The Bandits
only loss in
the event
came to the
LA Pama
Cyclones
(CA).
The Bandits Pro &
Minor teams continue
their exhibition
schedule with games
againts their arch
rival the Scottdale
Inferno on November
24 starting 4:00 PM
at HotShots Sports
Arena in Mt.
Pleasant, PA.
The Bandits will be
coming off a weekend
of exhibition games
against the
Winchester Generals
and the Potomac
Mavericks before
taking on the
Inferno.
The Olympic Training
Center in Colorado
Springs was the site
for the 2008 Junior
World Team tryouts.
Bandit players Nick

spot on the
prestigious Junior
World Team that will
compete in the FIRS
Junior World
Championships being
held in Paris,
France in July 2008.
Bandits player Steve

spot on the U18
Major Team USA as
well.
The Bandits minor
teams will hit the
road again in
November with stops
in Winchester and
Chantilly, VA. The
Bandits will play in
Winchester, VA on
Friday night
November 16th at the
Sportsplex against
the Winchester
Generals and then
travel over to
Chantilly on
Saturday 17th
night to take on the
Potomac Mavericks.
The Generals and
Mavericks are new
expansion teams to
PIHA for the 2007/08
season.
The Bandits and the
Lunatics minor teams
went at it for
several hours on
Saturday. Both
organizations using
the games to try and
get to ready for the
upcoming PIHA
Season. The
Bandits were using
these scrimmage
games to try and get
a look at some new
players. Jeremy
Lascko of Cleveland,
OH looked very
impressive in his
first appearance in
a Bandits uniform.
